Fissler – Over 160 years of tradition and innovation

Tradition is a special quality, particularly when it’s based not just on solid craftsmanship but also on the ability to innovate. Fissler was founded in 1845 and immediately started off on its speedy route to a successful future.

Here are just a few examples of major Fissler innovations:

1892: Fissler invents the mobile field kitchen, known as the "Goulash cannon".

1900: Fissler includes the "new metal" aluminium in its production programme and manufactures domestic and kitchen equipment.

1930: Fissler equips German passenger liners like the "Europa" and the "Bremen" with special new cookware for large kitchens.

1936: Fissler kits out the kitchens in the Olympic village in Berlin.

1953: Fissler develops the first pressure cooker with a patented, multi-setting control valve (Fissler vitavit). Fissler produces the first German stainless steel cookware with super-strong light metal "Thermic" base (patented process), Fissler coronal.

1956: Fissler is the first German manufacturer to produce PTFE-coated pans.

1969: Fissler brings out the first pressure skillet.

1973: Fissler introduces the new saftomat® roaster with ceramic strainer inset.

1980: Fissler presents its range of stainless steel pots with cold metal handles.

1989: Fissler introduces the Fissler magic line cookware range, which takes cooking into a new age. This is the first ever cookware series to reflect the major changes that have taken place in cookery over the past few centuries. 15 international design awards are impressive recognition of this achievement.

1995: To mark its 150th anniversary, Fissler demonstrates its enduring performance by rebranding itself and introducing new milestone products like the Fissler conturo series, the Fissler CookStar all-stove base and the long-lasting, robust Fissler Protectal non-stick coating. Fissler GmbH introduces a comprehensive quality management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001, and receives a certificate in recognition of the new system from TÜV Zertifizierungsgemeinschaft e.V., (TÜV CERT, the certification body of the German Technical Inspection Authority).

1998: Fissler develops a complete range of kitchen accessories for the magic series. The new Fissler magic accessories offer cutting-edge design and practical functionality.

1999: To mark the tenth anniversary of the magic line series, the special Fissler magic edition range of quality stainless steel products is launched. Fissler magic edition wins 15 design awards.

2000: Fissler opens up a new dimension in cooking with the Genovis series – aroma cookery. With the specially-developed Multi-Cook inset, the desired aroma of the food is allowed to fully unfold during cooking, braising or steaming.

2001: Fissler enters the cast-aluminium market with the black edition series, a clearly superior product especially aimed at young households. With its high-quality non-stick coating (rated "very good" by Stiftung Warentest, the German Consumer Goods Testing Foundation), black edition is ideal for low-fat cooking and particularly well-suited to modern convenience foods.

2003: Fissler relaunches the world’s most successful cookware series, the original-profi collection®. Fissler once again demonstrates its credentials as a leader in quality and innovation with the Premium series for amateur and professional cooks, which has been optimised in terms of functionality and design.

2005: With its newly developed Intensa Premium cooking system, Fissler provided new highlights for the kitchen. The unique combination of modern design and intelligent functions makes Intensa not only a feast for the eyes, but a true partner in the kitchen.

2006: Under the motto "The Ultimate Frying System" Fissler puts a new, improved range of pans on the market. The manufacturer guides the customer through the product range in three steps, thus helping him to find the right pan for every dish easily and quickly.

2007: With the new Fissler Cookware Worlds, Fissler presents a practical concept that helps the customer to find the right cookware line. It is based on three different design worlds: purist-classic, aesthetic-chic and informal-traditional. Each of them includes the appropriate cookware lines in two categories, Premium and Comfort.
