If the lid is turned 90°, the pot is open. In this position, you can easily pour off liquids (e.g. after cooking potatoes or noodles), evaporate residual liquid, fry crisply, etc. – all without removing the lid.
In the open position, the lid also serves as a spatter shield. Steam escapes in the desired direction, and the stove stays clean.
Pot closed: Perfect cooking of potatoes and vegetables, etc.
If the lid is at right angles to the handles, the pot is closed. Perfect cooking which preserves vitamins is now possible.
